My belief is that anything that can be done inside of a classroom can be done outside- plus a whole lot more! We put that to the test this year as we opened our first-rate outdoor classroom. We spent the fall testing bridge types across our new stream, trying our balance on our wiggle bridge, and experimenting with pullies to get our animals to the top of the slide. We learned that climbing stumps make awesome stages for impromptu concerts, and that the balance swing is just the right size for two friends to enjoy each others’ company. Outside, we can paint giant box castles, and the puppets in our puppet shows have A LOT of space to roam! We honed our engineering skills with marble runs amongst the stumps and sounded out those letter sounds labeling our chickens and plants. Thus far, I would conclude that our outdoor experiment has been a great success!
